my car was orig the smoke grey w/red int but the previous owner primered over it so now im re-painting it with the rustoleum technique so i cant do that color. once i get out of school and start making some money im going to have the whole thing media blasted and go back to the orig color. the silver smoke grey is one of my favorite mustang colors of all time. i actually like the look of the vinyl top and say go for it...maybe replace it every 5-10 years or so and check out underneath it to make sure its not too rusty. thats what i would do.

for 1966 the similar color was frost silver correct?

Any leads on where to get the proper code paint (aside for my friendly neighbourhood bodyshop?....)

Soaring, where would you go for paint?

I would buy the paint from PPG.

Just give them the Mustang paint code of K which is the 1965 Silver Smoke Gray, and they will hook you up.
