all right, here is a pic of my hood set up like to pic of yours. the only thing i noticed that is different is that yours has some half circle indentations along the bottom edge of the support and mine does not. don't know if that means anything.

Hi again. That is so sweet of you, Glen.
Dziabo, there are some other things that are very interesting about that hood. There is a guy that I know that, as far as I can tell, knows everything. He taught me everything that I know, but that was only a tiny percentage of what he knows.I would like to ask you to take a few more pictures and answer some questions, some of which would be very particular to your car,and then bounce all of that off of him, if that's ok with you. We could do that with P.M.s if you like, since it could turn out that your car is all of a sudden worth stealing. Some folks are funny about having their car stolen.

I too am in the same boat.I've got a 64.5 w/170 I-6. I would say keep it stock, or sell that one and get a 65-66 to do the resto-mod on. I bought a 66 convertible, and THAT is what I'm doing the "upgrades" to. It's tough to find a 64.5 that hasn't been changed over to a 302 or 5.0.
If you do decide to go the resto-mod thing, keep it simple to bolt-on parts that can be changed back later on(provided you have the storage space).
This is just my .02
