option 5, keep the house and current car, sell the wife.

no different in the long run to her going back to california, just you profit instead of losing the house and car when she divorces you and takes your sorry @ss to the cleaners!
Option 5 looks pretty good too....

I specifically wanted a coupe. Not sure why but that's the way I felt at the time. Now that I have one, I'm thinking a 69 or 70 fastback of some sort would be cool. .......and I have no wife to deal with yet.

Know exactly what you mean. I have been restoring the 67 now for a while and ran across the 69 Mach 1. Wife is getting her doctorate, kids are in school, already have a second mortgage....but I still wanted the car and to keep everything else that I worked hard for. If you sell your current car, you will be sorry that you did. All that hard work and a good looking car too. Keep the one you got and find some money somewhere. Credit cards have a good rate for people with good credit. Sometimes you can catch them.

Get into the habit of checking 65 and 66 fastbacks on e-bay daily for several reasons:
1. Whet you appetite.
2. Gets you anxious.
3. Makes you jealous.
4. Eventually you will succumb and do it right - buy one.

Was never much of a coupe fan, but then again if I could find a car like bbbitter's that would be a different story. It's hit or miss. When I was in the Coast Guard I had my present Mach and another guy on the ship had a 68 coupe that I thought was just the nicest looking coupe I had ever seen. Today I go and look at a coupe and they sometimes look meek and skimpy. I want a 66 fastback. Not a 65, but a 66.

Curiously, what do you prefer on the '66 to the '65? I prefer the '65 for the grill, dash, standard upholstery seat fabricand side ornaments (doesn't apply to a fastback), but would take gladly take a '66 just as well.

It is funny, but I thought exactly the same as you. Liked the 69-70 fastbacks, and thought the 65-68's were okay. I really wanted a '65 and a convertible was too much so I went with a GT coupe. The funny thing is, the fastback at the time (1988) was about the same price as the coupe, more or less. Fortunately, I had a change of heart and really fell for the fastbacks before they got too expensive and was able to pick mine up for $3200 in 1994.
I also got mine around 94'for about what you paid for yours.Back then verts cost a fortune and all the hard tops were cheap. It was only a year ago that I realized that fastbacks had caught up (and maybe passed) the value of the verts. Looks likeyour change of heartworked out well for you.

nice car you got there. Funny you should say that. I too would like a 69-70 fastback to go along with my other stangs and the only reason I probably won't get it is because the wife wants a old Vette instead.[:@]

when i was about to buy my 69 coupe. it was either a slightly rusty 69 coupe w/ running 351C not alot of miles and very powerfull. or a more rusty 70 fastback 302 running. they were both about the same price but the 70 was 500 cheaper.

i stand by my choice
