I want a fastback!
When I got my fastback, I traded my brother a 64 Fairlane 500, 4 door straight up.
{giggle giggle} I win!
Actually I wound up getting the Fairlane back a couple of years later for a few hundred bucks.
{giggle giggle} I win again!!
Sold the Fairlane to finance a new driveway.
Shouldn't have done that.

Curiously, what do you prefer on the '66 to the '65? I prefer the '65 for the grill, dash, standard upholstery seat fabricand side ornaments (doesn't apply to a fastback), but would take gladly take a '66 just as well.

I want a 66 fastback. Not a 65, but a 66.

Here in LA my guess is your ride would sell in the low teens - (very nice car, by the way). I am in the process of restoring my '66 fastback.
And I agree, the 65/66 fastbacks have a unique design quality that - in my opinion - set it apart.
How much do you think you will need to spend to find one in decent shape?. Here in LA, entry into the game seems to be in the high teens/low 20's. In "A" condition I have seen65/66 fastbacksin themid 20's tolow 30's. In "A+", showroom condiiton, I have seen a couple in the mid 30's to mid 40's... even one in the mid-50 range. (And these are basically stock, C-class cars!)
Oh, one other thing, the fastbacks now appear to be more exspensive and more in demand thenthe drop-tops. I don't know why.

I always wanted a Mustang. I could have had one in Germany. A 66vert for 12000 German marks which was like 6000USD. I had no way of putting so much money aside.
No a good few years down the road where I have at least a bit of money and can afford one the prices have shot up ...
But I'm very happy with what I have now. Great car.
In regards of your options ... make your wife rob a bank,. this way you get the money and have her go to prison instead. That a plan ?

I like 65 and 66 fastbacks too. That's why Icurrently have one of each. I prefer the 66 designhowever, strictly for the electrical system and the instrument cluster. Ford did make some improvements for 66 and those are two areas that benefited. Not to worry though, my 65 Fastback is a factory GT (I got the original window sticker to prove it) and it has the same guage arrangement as the 66. As a backup, the 69 and 70 Fastback (plain Jane, Sportsroof or Mach I) I like as well.

Just got back from my shop. The head guy says the good quality 65/66 fastbacks are going from 30 to 50.
He confirms that they're getting much harder to find.
Holy crap, hmmm. Wonder what I could get for mine then. That's unbelievable. Seriously, that cash invested correctly could send my kids to a good school in 16 years, probably in a new car. I may have to look into what mine is worth.

A restored C code fastback would be in the 15K-25K range.
