Quick (& prob'ly stupid) question(s)
Scenario: A person in the United States is driving around a car that is imported from another country. The car is unregistered, has no US legal title, and is thus uninsured. Now, if this person were to get pulled over, would the driver jsut get a HUGE ticket, or would the vehicle automatically be towed?
I believe I know the answer, but I need clarification. & sorry for posting in the classics section, but I believe the users in here are older/more experienced-which will give me better answers...

It would depend on what state you're in, and the cop. If a cop who knew what some particular car were, like a Panoz or something, saw one and knew it was unregistered and uninsured, may just tell the guy he's "not supposed" to be driving it around.
Depending on the state, and on the vehicle, you should be able to get a legal title. You need to prove that you lawfully own the vehicle, have your state's DMV, DPS or whichever agency inspect the vehicle, then apply and pay the associated fees. The inspection checks for all matching numbers, as well as ensuring the vehicle meets federal safety and emissions standards. If it doesn't then you're screwed.
No I don't own one, but they are selling out of canada for decent prices. The thing is, one can't just 'get' a title for them. There was a company that used to import them from Japan and make them US legal (What was involved, I do not know) But the end result was that the car had a VIN # and was legal. I know the company did not detune the engine (So they met emissions requirements I assume)
If anyone is interested, here is the former going rate to have them imported:

Now, can one get DOT approval and EPA testing done on their own? >_<

The conversion process includes Dot approval, EPA testing and the paper work to clear the car for U.S. street use.
owner of motorex went to jail he was forging the papers to get them legal faster. who wants a car that pricey but has the same power to weight as a new v6 mustang.i dont like the skyline i like the rb engine they have use to have a 240sx with a rb25det.
