help wheel cylinder ears

Default help wheel cylinder ears

I have a 66 mustang that i am restoring and the rear wheel cylinders i bought dont have ears on them to push on the shoes. and i dont have origonal ones because it as bare...does anyone know a website where i can order them or anything please.

Your best bet is to go to a shop that does brakes and get them there.

What exactly are you talking about? Have any pics? I just did mine, and I don't remember anything like that...

the medal ears that come out the side of the wheel cylinders. There what push out when you put the brakes on to push the pads to the shoes. I have no idea where to get them from

The piston? I don't know where you bought those, but how in the world would it not have a piston? That's the essential part. I suggest you take those back, and get some new ones.

They are called the 'brake cylinder to shoe link, Ford p/n B7A-2042-A, and are the same from 1957 to at least 1972 (where my edition of Ford Car Parts ends) on all Ford drum brakesexcept 65 and 66 T-Birds. They go from the piston of the brake cylinder to the shoe.

Just to add to Jim's post, I see NPD has them (item # 2042-1) if you can't find them at your local autoparts store. Just ask for them by name (brake cylinder to shoe link).
