Tranny question
You got the time, you got the money, prove it to yourself - take a C-4 from a six cylinder car and put it behind a V-8 and punch it.You say there will be no problems. Bet you break it.

does the bell housing for the C4 in a '67 I6 need to be changed before a 351w is inserted? How does that process work? How difficult, cost??? etc?

It does need to be changed, should not be hard at all, just unbolt and rebolt....
Ok, you all got me looking for differences in the C-4s, so I started surfing a little, and found a very interesting link concerning swaping a C-4 to an AOD. It is a fairly comprehensive write up on the swap, right down to the nuts and bolts, flexplates, ratio's what fits and what does not fit.
If it is not in the FAQ already, it might make a great addition. IMO it is a very well written piece.

Never Mind,,, it's already there.....

There may be a few different parts in there that affect the shifting logic. Springs and things, and line pressures. You wouldn't want the C4 behind a 289 HP to be shifting at the same points as the one behind an I-6. Everything else could be identical and it would mechanically work. But it wouldn't be a happy mix.
