I didn't have my digital with me. the casting # is for very early 1969 motors. I'll take some tomorrow. I am buying the car for a great price and am going to give it to my daughter when she gets 16, 13 now

Something is not right. This guy is not telling you the truth. BOSS motors came out in 69. If you have a 65 there would have not been a BOSS motor stuck in there by Ford under warranty. There very well may be a BOSS motor in that car but it wasn't put there by Ford. He may have his info wrong. I would like to see pics for sure. It must be a TIGHT fit in between the shock towers with those Cleveland style heads.

looking to buy 65 to restore. Owner says it has factory installed performance heads. The code on the fender apronis a C. Can it still have the K code heads. What is the difference. And where on the heads can I get"code or casting # " for them and what should it be if there is a difference in the heads.

Thanks, new to mustangs

No, the C code 289 is certainly not a K code 289 in any way, except the heads are the same for the C, A and K code engines. So, the owner is not misrepresenting that engine by saying that C code engine has the same heads as a K code.

Soaring, the heads are NOT THE SAME...same ports, yes, but my 1966 HI-PO 289 had cast-in valve spring seats that kept the spring from walking around on the head, screw-in studs and littly tiny chambers...don't remember the cc of the chamber but I/m sure someone else on here has that info.

so, to clear confusion are the "Hi-Po" heads supposed to be the same as the "K Code" heads ?

cause the hi-po's are certainly NOT the same castings as the regular heads, i DO believe the port flow and valve sizes were the same though (weird)

*edit*

according to this the chamber size was the same, its just the spring pockets and screw in studs that set them apart (and their price tag)
