The shocks have notihing to do with the export brace. The brace is attached to the shock tower and the cowl. Not a real brainer. Get the brace on the bolts, then put the nuts on and tighten them down slightly until you get them all on, then tighten them all on.
1. How dare this noob ask two questions... start a new topic if you want to know about shocks/springs
2. How dare this noob ask a question thats "not a real brainer"

thats your moderator posting up for the new member.... helpful as always... damn but you can come across wrong at times

You'll quickly learn that our moderator has the uncanny ability of adding smart-alec comments that hardly ever helps you solve your issue (I'm still waiting for him to go to his local Ford dealership and get me a set of '67 motor mounts for my 289).

Let's review his "not a real brainer" reference.
The export brace connects to the shock tower.
In order to install the export brace, the shock tower caps must be removed.
In order to remove the caps, the shocks must be disconnected.

Noob wants to know what's going to happen now that the top of the shocks are disconnected. Sounds like a valid question to me. The thought that the shocks and export brace have nothing to do with each other - well, that's another story.

Man...rough crowd in here today....and for the record (in my defense) I always assume that someone would have been trying the various pry bar, screw driver, linch pin method to get the rear holes aligned...I know I did before I ultimately opened up the holes on the fire wall a bit. When it is off you can see that I was only 1/8 inch off (old holes verses new holes) but that little bit made it impossible to get it in.

Hey I like to work smarter, if there is a way that other pepz have done this a lot easier, why not ask? You didn't have to take the 5mins. that it took you to read my TWO questions. For rest that acutally helped, thank you. Yes I'am a "newb", but at some point all of us were.
Hey Angelou,
Royal68 was actually supporting you. He was having a go at soaring.
Ya Noob!
yeah, sorry - should've made that more clear. You had two legitimate questions, the export brace is a fairly common battle - i know mine took some negotiations and an invented language I use while working on the car

but I've seen too many right answers, followed by a left jab from the mod - didn't want you to think you were wrong to ask your question.

and now I see the "drama" has returned.......

glad I bought a shop manual

LIke most everyone said keep it loose and let a good screwdriver do the aligning while you put screws in the holes.
