Our backwards resto....66 vert!
i am going to go with gloss black and matte black stripes with black top and black wheels,..it should look really nice,...
the wheel does look to far forward, i dont know what would cause this, but lookin at some other cars it looks like that also, and the front lower part of the fender needs to be pushed out,..but i cant do that till i get the front valance on...
ok well plans changed a bit AGAIN~!...
i was originally on my way to pick up a 302 bare block that had been cleaned, bored, and honed,...but searched a bit more a came across another deal...
289, period correct motor for the car!, bored 30 over with trw pistons, that had been built by a local shop last year, the guy put it in his 66 falcon, ran the motor for 30 minutes to break the motor in, and the next day had a guy offer him 5500 for the falcon with NO motor,...so he pulled the motor, put it in his garage and has been sitting in his garage for 10 months,...300$! and it came with a 278$ moroso oil pan, so figured i couldnt make out that bad,...and a 229$ cam...so i can sell those, and make my money back hopefully,...
i felt pretty confident considering the guy gave me his home number and told me to hold onto his address in case there is any problems,..he was a very nice guy and knew fords very very well
here is the motor just picked up and put ont he stand,...

paint stripped and old blancer coming off,...you can see the new freeze plugs

timing cover off, lifters out, more paint off and pan off

he had the front fuel pump thingy machined so that he could run a double roller timing chain, which are sweet from what i understand,...so that will probably stay
timing chain off, paint completly stripped, cam out, ready for paint,...

freshly painted block, you can see how clean the pistons and walls look...still shiny, there is some surface rust ont he cylinders from sitting without oil in them and a little scoring on two of the cylinder walls, but its nothing that grabs your nail,...very lite...could have happened when the pistons were pushed in...
new oil pump and gasket set should be here this weekend, i need to then pull the old motor and start switching everything over,...:devil:god i hope this works

I was just reading through all the posts and this is like a great book! Have you decided to hang on to it? I hope so because there is no way you can just get rid of it after putting so much time and effort into it! There is nothing that cant be corrected with these cars.
btw - Did you use POR15 underneath the car as well? The pictures didnt have the same looking finish as everything else you used it on..

GOOD WORK!! I took the time to read most of this thread from beginning to end, and you've done an incredible job! You've given me motivation to continue with my endeavor (66 coupe). Mech's are done, just body and paint left. Motivation is one thing, extra time is another. Anyway, you need to be extremely proud of this undertaking. keep the pics coming.
the engine was a HUGE HUGE HUGE set back...set back motivation, set back time, set back financially, set back period,..but hopefully this works out,...

where this is going sort of,..still undecided if i am going to shave the door handles or have them powdercoated black...and trying to decide on the windshield trim,..keep chrome or powdercoat black...if anyone is better at photoshop them me, please take a crack at it,..i have a gt350 hood,..that i am debating on keeping or selling and picking up a different hood,..
