Default Beefing up a t5

i checked the numbers on a t5 i purchased. it is rated at 265ft/lbs. 1352-169

should this be fattened up. im building a strong engine and my goal will be 4oohp.

Geforce makes a decent upgrade kit that'll take it to around 600ft lb capacity. Cheaper than buying a new trans, replaces all of the major components

Yeah, better now than finding it in pieces under your car later after a hard launch....

A z-spec T5 with a reinforced counter gear stabilizer will get you up near the 400 hp mark. The question is how will you be driving and what kind of rear tires are you looking at?? If you are drag racing with slicks than the only option is G-force, but if you are only a street driver who will occasionally dump the clutch than a Z-spec will work just fine.

Yeah, the sticker the tires and the harder you launch/shift, the stronger the trans needs to be. The more the car weighs, the stronger the trans needs to be.

That was also my plan for my 390. But I was thinking a HD rebuild from ford racing which is ~$400, and my buddy has a good t5 case that he can rebuild.

I was kind of wondering how much more work it is to spread the gear ratios out. I know it must get steep $ switching out gears for aftermarket ratios.

Geforce offers a few different ratios I think, their rebuild kit is around $1,000 and replaces the mainshaft, all the gear clusters etc, plus all the other basic stuff for a rebuild.
