thanks you for the info . as for rebuilding the motor your self you are right it is a great feeling but to be honest I don't aways have the time to do it. not to mention I am a Mopar guy and don't know alot about fords hopefuly with some help that will change.

I'd have to agree. About 5-600 bucks for engine/tranny. Sally, the 289 is extremely good. The problems come when someone wants to hop it up and bores it out too much. The 289 is strong,reliable and can be made to go fast. Why do you think Ford was still using the same block for almost 50 years? When something works, stay with it.
