front leaf spring bushings
how do you get the front leaf spring bushings out? its for a 66 coupe and i have tried about everything i know short of melting the rubber and knocking out the thin metal sleeve
are these bushings even worth replacing or should i go ahead and get new springs?

This guy has a ton of tips. The method on melting out might be the best one for you there.

To answer your question, your old springs are probably sagging so you might want to replace the springs. The only way I know to get the bushings out is to burn them out with a torch, but wear a respirator and be prepared for a mess.
Changed the front bushings on our '65 about 2 months ago. Used a hydraulic press. It takes about 900 pounds of pressure (seemed like it anyway) to get the things to budge and then the springstend to fly all over the place when the pressurre drops off real fast. Installed a set of poly bushings and now ride real good. If you're changing the fronts, might as well change the rears at the same time.
