Window Mech Grease Question
Hi,
My shop manual says to use polyethelene grease on the various door window mechanical parts. I can't seem to find that grease at Home Depot or Autozone.
Is there an alternative? Is white lithium grease the new grease to use for door mechs?
Thanks,
John

I don't use grease on mine. Over time it tends to get hard and bind things up. I use 3M silicon spray lube. It works good but you need to clean all the old grease out of the tracks and stuff.
I read an article from Mustang Monthly about replacing the front window regulators. The shop who performed the work used wheel bearing grease. Seemed strange to me. I actually used Lithium grease but did not know it would eventually dry out.
I have found wheel bearing or moly grease the best. White lithium and any light lube (Teflon, W40, silicone, etc) will dry out and cause binding after awhile. Litium will turn to powder after sustained summer heat. So if you do not want to have to open up the door pannel and regrease frequently, use a high temp, qulaity grease.
I like to use Super Lube grease. Have had very good results with it and with many applications.
