Default Kickdown?

Hello all, I am new to this andI am trying to put my baby back together. I havea 67 coupe with a 302. I was wondering doI need to put the kickdown linkage back on. WhenI bought the carit was not hooked up. Do I really need it? If so what does it really do? thanks for all the help.

I'd use it/ hook it back up..without it..it won't kickdown a gear based on throttle pressure at the right time..or at all

Doesn't the downshift cable that runs from the transmission to the throttle piece do the downshift? I thought the kickdown went to the carb?

You only need a kick down if you have an AT car. If you do, hook it back up as it helps the C4 determine the correct prsssures to use for shift points.
