We have a set of CalTracs installed on the 68. The 68 car has a 408 w/TKO600 and a new Currie 3.91 posi rearend.

The CalTracs traction systemwill eliminate your wheel hop.

$400 is not expensive for a quality component.

Your friend will not be disappointed.

Dave
It's quite expensive when $100 will get you a set of Traction Masters that do the same job.

They can't do the same job when you look at them side by side. And with the level of HP on that car, will try to tear the pad from the car on every launch.Caltracs aren't attached to the car. It places force down on the weakest part of the leaf, where it wraps up. And they're only 339. I don't think you can do this with a traction master.

Not picking on your Staryfury, but they just aren't even close to the same league. The metal is even far superior.

While I do agree that the CalTracs can do a slightly better job and would probably be a better idea on a high-hp drag car, we're usually talking about street cars here. Tractions Masters are more than adequate for 99% of the cars on this forum. There's no sense spending $339 (there's nothing only about that) when you can get the same effect with $100.

If you can weld decently, that front plate isn't coming off. If you have that much power, you're going to need a lot more than traction masters to keep the car from tearing itself apart. There's nothing about a Traction Master that's going to come apart. It's steel and welds, not sheet metal. Nor do you need to exert force on the spring, because the design simply prevents the axle from twisting. That's all you need to do to prevent wheel hop.

I'm not saying Cal Tracs aren't great, I just think they're just overkill in most cases.

The post above said they were 400. They don't cost that much. They are only 339, not 400.
