Default RE: Rising Hood

if the lubrication doesn't work it's because the pins and holes are worn. The pins get worn and the holes get oblonged. Maybe that's a sign of the previous owner taking car of the car, lifting the hood to often to check the oil
I had the same problem with mine before paint. It was even worse after I tried fitting the fiberglass hood. I purchased a set of re-pops and it was the same. It seemed the new hingitsos had the same slop. It's very difficult to tell until you get them installed because the hoods leverage is needed to properly operate the hinge. You may have to compromise bysetting the hinges a tad bit lower in the engine compartment when you install them.

low tension springs will fix this or remove them and use a prop rod

I had to have my hinges replaced, they were like "shimmed" or something (can't remember what the bodyshop said" so they weren't able to be adjusted properly and would stay up about a 1/2" in the rear
