blower belt
Since I put the 2" pulley on my weiand, it have been jumping teeth. Of course it's when it's hammer time. I have adjusted the tensioner all the way out and it seems tight. I can't go any tighter due to the tensioner being maxed out. The belt even seems pretty tight. Well, I need a new belt. Did I tell you you can run a roots style supercharger w/o a belt[8D]. I did a burnout leaving a car show today and threw the belt. It chewed it up pretty bad. I was able to get it back on and drive her home. The sideways burnout through second gear was worthy of a video, but no one got it. It is a ten rib belt. Has anyone had problems with belts and how did you solve it.

We run a Kevlar belts on the race car. We were going though a belt every three passes but the Kevlar one lasted a few events with out problems.
Some issues with shredding belts can be a misalignment with the blower and pulley and the engine hesitating or misfiring and causing a "jerking" motion on the crank. Another cause can be the blower has more drag on it then normal. It's hard to fix it over the net but we can try...

[align=left]Thanks for the info LCC. There is no hesitation or misfiring for sure. She runs like a top. I think I shredded the belt when it came completely off or someone may have run it over. I pulled around the corner and didn't get the belt back until a kid brought it to me. He found it in the middle of the street.
I didn't start having these problems until I went to the 2" pulley. I'm sure it has something to do with the tension. I adjusted the tensioner out all the way and still get belt dust when I throttle it. Maybe the belt is whipping when I gun it. I have seen that the belt starts to jump on the tensioner before anywhere else. I get into the habbit of checking my belt after a hard run. Sometimes the belt is hanging off by one or two grooves. My belt is 48.25". I looked for something in the 47"-48" and it can't be found. Maybe I will try a 46 1/2" and go the opposite direction with my tensioner. I can set it back quite a ways but I don't know yet if it will be too small. Only one way to find out I guess.
