My first mustang!!
Awesome that its a fender, anything that is rusty is bad. Anything that is rusty bout BOLTS onto the car is better.
You can always buy a new one and bolt it on.
As soon as you can get those pics up, go for it. I know I am curious to see what is going on.

The best thing for removing body filler would be a heavy grit paper on a grinder. Then for rust and paint removal use;

We have been using a cheap grinder from Harbor freight....$9.

I highly recommend that you purchase Kevin Tetz's "Body panel replacement" DVD He even uses a 70 Mustang for the DVD). It goes over most of what you need to do. It also shows techniques for using body panel adhesives instead of welding. I bought his entire Paintucation series of DVD's.

The Warranty Number on your Door Data Plate is not for your car - your drivers door has been changed.
I can't emphasize enough that you need to straighten out the paperwork, before you spend any more money on this car. Right now, you don't have the proper paperwork to prove you own this car.

Please note that what works in your state might not work in others. A Bill Of Sale in the state of New Jersey is useless and the DMV will not recognize it at all. I know a few others states are the same.
Adrenolin, in my state, I can't use a Bill of Sale to register a car either. Some states still do accept them. I was trying to get across that he needs at least a Bill of Sale, with the correct year car, and VIN on it, for some kind of proof he bought the car. A guy writing " I sold my '65 Mustang to "brnc bstr87" and signed with no VIN and the wrong year isn't even a good Bill of Sale. I just hope he straightens out the paperwork before he spends any more money on a car he may not be able to register.
theres a car like this that goes to our local track meets.... huge engine, runs 9s in the 1/4, and looks like it was just pulled from a scrap yard...i say leave the body how it is and drop in a big motor!!
I got the paperwork all straightened out and the title is on it's way. So, the other day I went out to try and crank it by touching the positive battery cable to the other side of the starter solenoid. It cranks! So, now I've done the oil change, new plugs and wires, fuel filter, the fuel pump is still good. The only thing I haven't done is get the old gas out of the tank and seafoam it. I was going to take a hose from the fuel pump and put it into a gas can until I get the tank cleaned out. Now what do I do?
