got the car
After reading this, I will never buy a car on eBay that is further than a drive away.
I hope you get everything figured out. I don't think eBay will help, they made their money on the sale. If you be real with the guy in trying to get money out of him, he might. But if he is a jerk, which sounds like he is, then it might be time for small claims court. In CA small claims are cases up to $5000. Not sure on NH state law.
Good luck.

Here's the ad so Forum members can keep an eye out for this Ebay seller.

Racin66, Are you going to try and return the car or keep it? This guy has an Ebay Store, so you may have some leverage over him when you ask for some money back to repair the frame rail.
Good Luck!

The title/bill of sale thing is a whole different matter but as far as the condition I think you are hosed on the rail. He never said the rails were good. He said they looked good so unless they had obvious holes in them they could look good and still be crap. You would have to be able to prove he knew the rail was bad. Also, he specified the car is sold as is and the ad recommended an independent inspection. Most auction cars are sold that way. Buyer beware.
Fastbacks command higher prices. All-in-all I don't think you got a bad car for the price.

oh yeah, the guy has been VERY nice so far by not complaining or anything when we asked about the interior or anything so dont like go around telling people not to buy his stuff..... but we shall see what happens mon when we try to see if the VIN is clear...
If you can register the car in your name and the vin is close to what you have then count your self lucky. I wouldn't bother with trying to get money for the frame rails, but thats just me. Looks like you got the car for a good price..

a new Bill Of Sale with the correct VIN from the front inner fender. Your unlikely to get any money out of him however you should still try.
