Hiya,

sorry to hear you're selling. Completely independant of the question, I got stuck with a dead alternator. A buddy of mine is innto Ford Fiestas (for whatever reasons). he had 3 alternators for them lying around. I just had to fabricate a bracket to get it to fit as the lower hole in alternator for mounting is different location.
10 minute job. I'm sure you can get a 80s ford alternator from a scrapper or buddy for near nothing. it has an internal regulator so no bother with that anymore.
it's not a nice fix, but it got me out of my trouble for free.

check out the picture below. that's what i ripped out of my car last week. you see the alternator and additional bracket there.

It starts!!!

New voltage regulator, new solenoid, and new battery. Started up fine and runs great. No more bogging starting off in 1st and no hesitation opening the 2nd valve. Flies through 1st gear. Can't go too fast in the neighborhood couldn't test 3rd or most of 2nd.
