Default throttle linkage questions

I'm changing over to a holley carb and wonder if anyone has tackled the throttle linkage issue yet. The stock link can be hooked up to the arm on the holley but it looks like it won't pull the arm to full throttle. I can easily make a custom one, but am at odds on hooking up the transmission kickdown. It only has to move about a 1/2 inch to downshift. Anyone who has done this, I would really appreciate your input. If anyone knows of someplace that sells a set up for this please let me know. Thanks!

Never had a single problem hooking up both a Holley and an Edelbrock carb to the stock 65/66 linkage. The rod is adjustable so you can shorten or lengthen as required to get full throttle action.

The Holley requires the same length rod as the 2100 and 4100 Autolite carb. If you can't get full throttle, the fix is the same. Note: I have seen cars with a slight bend in the firewall, where the throttle mounts, that effects this adjustment.

I hooked mine straight up and adjusted the arm length for full throttle opening with no problem. I have a tko600, so no kickdown, but I wouldn't see that as a problem.

Thanks for the input. I based my assumption that it wouldn't work off some other posts and an article in mustang performance that said the stock throttle rod wouldn't work with the holley carb.

I have seen this problem. If you use the stock clip on the holley it will bind when trying to go to full trottle. You can either grind the linkage on the holley or drill a small hole in the linkage rod and use a washer and cotter pin to hold the rod on the carburator side.

Either drill and use the washer and cotter pin or get an axle nut, insert the rod in the hole under the large hole, place a washer over it, and push the axle nut on to the end of the rod leaving it just loose enough so the throttle works smoothly.

hole in rod with washer and cotter pin is a good idea. i cut a circular groove into the rod to put an E-clip on.

I prefer the Edelbrock carb, and this trick is essential to using them. There is a similar trick to the throttle rod spring and bracket.
