Default 351C intake swap

I have a 1973 mustang with a 351C 2bbl....I would like to change it out
with the 4bbl intake.... my question is can I just swap from a 2 to 4 barrel cast iron intake without changing the heads? Would anyone have a better recomendation on a aftermarket intake and carb.

you can change the intake without changing the heads
instead of going from one massive solid block of cast steel to the next door stopper I'd suggest to get aftermarket aluminum intake.

If you go four barrell intake, you will need 4barrell carb
those reducers/adapters are not a good idea

the recommendation heavily depends on what money you want to spend and what changes you plan for the future

no.

If you want a 4bbl carb you need to buy the edlebrock 2v intake that has a 4v carb mount. The 2v and 4v heads on the 351c are very different and you can't just bolt a standard 4v intake onto the motor if it has the 2v heads on it because a large port mis-match

Any of these intakes will work. For a carb a vacuum secondary carb between the stock 4100 and a 750 Holley will work with the 351. I had good luck with the stock 4100s on a 4V, but I have run 750 vacuum secondary carbs and they work well too.

Years ago there was a group of people who would put the 4V intake on the 2V heads, it will bolt up and cover the ports well enough, but the port mismatch is very pronounced. Its far better now to use the aftermarket intakes.

Here is a visual reference between 2v and 4v heads. 4v on the left, 2v on the right. Rather large difference woudnt you say?

jaysus. nearly twice the size. that means if anyone with a aftermarket intake for 4v puts it on a 2V, half the intake stream is bounced back
