Default electric fuel pump question return line?

How are you guys running your electric fuel pumps return line to the tank. Ive been needing to upgrade to a electric fuel pump, but im wondering how to run the return line back into the tank? i have a 68 mustang an a fuel cell is just out the question for now. I need more than the average holley blue fuel pump, so a return line in necessary.

I use a regulator with a return bypass.

I mount the regulator close to the carb in the engine compartment, return line follows the inlet line. There are several ways to run the return line back into the tank. There is a sending unit you can but for EFI swaps that has an extra tube welded to it to run the return. Or, if your tank has a drain plug to can replace it with a fitting and run the line to there. I've routed fuel lines back up into the rear compartment and run return line to the filler neck. If you do this make sure to run a lead pointing down towards the tank, otherwise it will splash up towards the cap and flow out. This way is also a cool way to check if you still have fuel, with the pump running you can pull the cap and listen for splashing fuel.
I think it might be an inconvenience to adjust the pressure but I've thought to mount the regulator close to the pump at the tank, that way there's less return line to run.

Whats the need for a bigger pump? I have Magnafuel pump/filter combo with a bypass that goes right back to the tank. Its a shorter run and saves money on fuel line

i need to ditch the mechanical fuel pump to run more boost on my supercharger. Im currently running 7lbs of boost with a boost mechancial fuel pump, but i want to step it up to 10 lbs or 14 lbs at the max. I dont think im gonna need that big of a fuel system Magnafuel pump or aromotive. Im thinking the walbro 255 inline fuel pump. with 3/8" return & 1/2 or 3/8 feed (not sure yet)

Get a sealing bulkhead connector, drill a hole near the top of your fuel tank, and install it. It is actually pretty easy and can be completed in a few hours.
