Yeh..... the brackets are thick is where the spacer goes. "Moser" has a bearing that seals with an "O" ring that works without the need for a spacer (its like built onto the bearing). Be aware that some "Crown Vics" will fit and some not. The years I don't know. Also the caliper orentiation will vary as well as the E-brake may give you some trouble. Make sure your homework first.

the mid 90s crown vics are what you need to look for
the police cars are the better setup with slotted rotors and different pistons in the caliper
as for making them work they are a bolt on on 8inch rear with a shim which you can find on ebay

How come nobody seems to put OEM type 65-66 disc brakes on when upgrading from 4 wheel drum?

Sure the bolt ons are simple, but be prepared to pull out the green. It seems that they range from $600 to over a $1000. I have changed 3 of my cars over to Explorer's or Crown Vic's for less than $200 for all three, and will be doing a 4th by spring (freebie set). To answer your original post, yes, but then again, do your research before you start.

Most people upgrading from 4 to 5 bolt are also converting to V8. I figure they are reading a lotta magazines in preparation, and said magazines, hoping to curry favor with their sponsors, recommend super-zoomy 14" slotted cross-drilled disc brakes with 12 piston calipers. Of course, for street driving such brakes are a waste of money, but if you are racing, or want to impress people with how much money you spent at cruise night, very useful.

ok this is the kit you need to adapt, all the kit contains is the stuff to bolt on and shim the axles if you look around on yahoo google etc you can find the dimensions maybe get a machine shop to make some cheaper??
as for the parts take everything from the rear on each brake side, bracket calipers all bolts lines hoses etc if its hooked to the brakes take it with you

I made the change on my 66 using 93 Crown Vic calipers and rotors. Bolts up fine but be aware that you need to change the distribution valve as well or you will do doughnuts the first time you throw out the anchor. I also have an issue with the front honeycomb wheels not clearing the calipers. My buddy used a grinding wheel on them to clear but I am not happy with that. I am going to look for a smaller caliper that will bolt on and clear those wheels. Standard steel wheels are not a problem
