Default fly wheel for a t-5 conversion

Has anyone out there done a t-5 conversion? What fly wheel did you use and were did you get it? I've got a 66 mustang with a 289 that used to have a c-4 auto in it. I bought a fly wheel from CJ Pony Parts that made the car shake violently. The garage I took it to said they sold me a flywheel for a 5.0. CJ has been no help, (by they way, it you need Mustang parts look somewhere else cause these guys are awful, this hasn't been my first problem with them.) I need a recommendation on what flywheel to get, and who to get it from. Thanks

You need to get the right imbalance factor. Early 289/302 and 351 use the 28oz imbalance, and later 302 use 50oz imbalance. You MOST LIKELY need 28(can't say for 100% certain, there is a possibility it has been rebuilt at some point and someone balanced it to 50oz).

I got a Centerforce SFI approved steel for my TKO swap. Reasonably priced and fits 10 or 10.5" clutches. A tad heavier than stock, but that can be easily rectified with a lighter/smaller clutch.

They probably sold you a flywheel for a 5.0 with an 50 ounce imbalance. It will vibrate your engine to death quickly.

The flywheel choice also depends on what clutch you are using.
If you are using the stock 10 inch 3 finger clutch, you can use an original 28 oz imbalance flywheel with 157 tooth
If you are using a 10 1/2 modern diapragm clutch you will need a custom flywheel that has the old 28 oz imbalance but the clutch bolt pattern for the 10 1/2.
Sounds like you might have gone with a 10 1/2 clutch with a 302 flywheel that has a 50 oz imbalance

Possible Choices/solutions:
Have the flywheel balanced to 28 oz at a machine shop
Buy a custom 28 oz imbalance and 10 1/2" clutch pattern for a 289 with 157 tooth.
I used a Zoom flywheel. It was pricey but I got a good deal
They sell billet flywheels on ebay for $100 that will work.

That's about the size of it your engine probably needs a 28oz flywheel foryour 289, not a 50oz for late model

The 66 289 requires the 28 oz 157T wheel.
