Default possible lifter noise

Well this may be a lil bit of a long story...

Car was running well but had a bad exhaust leak (loud). Once I fixed the leak the car sounded much better. the first drive after fixing the leak the oil sending unit extension broke while driving on the highway and sending all the oil out of the block. by the time I pulled off the freeway it was very low on oil and you could here the lifter clacking very loud. I drove the car about 1 mile before pulling off.

Now the car seems to have a little valve noise once it heats up. I can only hear the noise at higher rpms none at idle. Not loud either but loud enough to hear over the 2 chamber flows. Im thinking that it could be possible that I rolled a cam bearing when the car ran low on oil and now not getting oil to some of the lifters. however it is possible that the lifters where always this way I just could not hear them over the exhaust leaks.

Should you be able to hear any valve noise with a hydraulic roller lifter? What should I do as a precaution. When the valve noise gets loud enough to hear you can hear it sputter the exhaust.

thank you

Dan

took valve covers off and couldnt se any problems with lifters at idle. need to get rpms up to 3,000 to hear noise but that makes an oily mess.if its a problem that only happens once the motor heats up wouldnt that tell me its not the lifters? lifters would make noise on start up if there was a problem right?
