Default heater core location?

I don't know much about heat and AC but is my heater core located in the dash?

yes. under the dash, about where the glovebox is. it's a huge plastic box where a few cables from the console for operating the flaps go to.
you should have two hoses connecting to it from engine side to firewall. if they're deleted, the heater fan sits in the same box
that is if you're talking 64-66 models. the rest i don't know

Yes, the car is a 66. Thanks I'll do some checking in there next time I'm working on it.

If you have a/c you will have to drop the box, and if its functioning a/c then you might just want to take it to a a/c guy because you will have to discharge the system and its a real pain in the rear. If its none a/c and or its not functioning a/c then you just drop the box take it apart and put the new one back in put it back together, fill up on coolant and your good to go.

Not in a 66. The heat and AC are totally separate units in 66.

The heater can be removed from a 66 in under a half hour, and this is definitely the way to go- if you try to work on it in the car it might kill you, and you'll probably destroy it.

Replace the foam seals while you have it out.

You learn something new everyday, never knew they were separate in that year.
