Rear End Question
okay as long as it doesn't have to be matched to a specific track/strip/application you should consider something in the 3.00-3.25 range...at least that's my recommendation. especially with your 2.78 1st gear

well I run a trutrack LSD...its all gear driven and has no clutch packs to wear out.
The 9" trutrack is 500 bucks.
Its not hard to replace...If you are having a shop install the gears then they do that at the same time.
So what exactly are you getting for 350? The whole damn thing that just needs to be bolted up, tires stuck on it and driveline hooked to it? If yes it might still be worth it....
So your gonna need:
an LSD I think the trutrack will accommodate the torque but you'll need to verify that.
new bearings
maybe new gears
maybe new axles...dont know if the stock axels will take that kind of HP...doubt it.
You'll have to add all that crap up and then compare it to the cost of an identical new setup and see if its still worth it.

also do you know how much time (miles) are on it?
If you are going to be throwing everything away on it, it might be best to just find a 9" housing and buy all the crap to go with it new...
its not a real easy suggestion on what is best....

Yeah i get everything its still in the car hes going to be taking it out., as for the miles im not sure but i can find out. So what you are saying is just buy it then get a an LSD thirdmember and put that in? I have heard they are pretty much bullet proof.
Well what Im saying is im not sure what torque rating those axles have.
Your cheapest bet is the get it for 350 (which still might not be that bad of a price) and then buy a trutrack or your choice of LSD and have the shop install the new LSD with new bearings.
so this is going to end up costing like 1200 with labor and you might be set.
You could always call the shop you plan to have do the work for you and ask what they think about that setup vs your power output.
