Default Ok I need help with bodywork

I have put alot of money into my 1970 coupe and im to the point i need the rear quarters, taillight panel, and passenger drip rail. Then I need bondo and paint. I just got quoted $8-10k and I'm looking for someone in buffalo who is looking for work or knows someone that could do it for any better of a price.

I'm sure you can find a better price somewhere. MAACO would give you a better price. The quality might be a little different though.

Quality bodywork consists of TIME and LOTS of it! Time costs money. I fully expect there's a bondo slinger somewhere in your area that will do it cheaper. Is that really what you want?

well basically i want it done right. I've gone to a few other body shops and theyve quoted me no less then 15k. I really dont want just some guy that does it out of his garage on the side because i want a place that has insurance in case anything goes wrong so i really am stuck with what i want to do i suppose i'll just have to drop the money

I don't mean any disrespect by asking this but is your car worth dumping $8-10k into just for bodywork? I think you could find a pretty decent coupe ready to roll for that price.

I replaced the rear quarters on my 68 and it only cost me $200 and about 6-8 hours of work. I was my first time and I'm pretty sure I did just as good a job if not better than what most body shops would have done. I butt welded the seem and after grinding down the welds its barely noticeable even without any filler.

For $8k you could buy all the equipment you need and take a couple classes to do it yourself, and knowing how long a lot of shops take to get something done it would probably even be faster lol.

well basically i've put alot into it already so it seems like i might as well go the rest of the way and have it done and look right. It also has some sentimental value because it was my first project and i have been working on it with my great-grandfather. Idk im going to keep looking around here

8-10k seems awful high. I spent 10k to have my car media blasted, both quarters fixed, my cowl replaced, painted, and put back together. The only reason i didn't do it myself though is that im a full time college student and didn't have the time. If you have the tools and the confidence you could easily do it yourself for a few hundred bucks and a lot of hours.

Wish I could have afforded something like that when I was in college.

8k for paint and rust repair can be normal depending how much rust there is in it.If its a coupe i would think hard on it that's a lot of money.Look up your local mustang club see who they like you might get it done cheaper.
