ahh that's why. all the headers i ever had they have a big space where the zbar goes. looks unnatural. probably no way to bend the ones you have in shape i guess :-(

for the thermowitch thats good. you'll see how she copes with heat. go from there.
my only point of worry would be for idling and traffic jams

My dad has mentioned the fan shroud as well, if it starts to heat u.p just idling then I will invest in one

I guess the 'window' between my headers is so the Zbar can attach to the block?

I would look for some off fleabay if you're looking for cheap. I never thought the '87's would fit due to the shock towers in our cars which are pretty absent in the foxes.
You may be able to find a reasonably priced pair of Tri-Y's new, pretty sure they have that spread in the left side pipes.

Summit has flowtech headers for $120, so I might buy them

A friend of mine put the Patriot midlengths on his '69 and was impressed with the quality and fit, no problems with PS. Long tubes are great for breathing but a pain on installation, I've installed mine 2-3 to address fit issues with an AOD.

Here are the midlength I wish I would have gotten with PS and AOD.

You want to look at tube gauge and flange thickness to avoid leaks.
The Flowtechs and Patriots have 5/16" flange, 3/8" would be best,
flowtechs are 18ga., Patriots midlength are 16ga.

Yeah and as much as my car is lowered it would probably be an even bigger pain, I don't know how low they would hang down. I only have about 3-4" of ground clearance.

I would suggest mid length headers too, since your car is low. I have the JBAs on mine. Also make sure which ever ones you get have a thicker flange at the head. Mine are 3/8 inch. The 1/4 inch ones are more prone to warping. For gaskets, I like Percy's seal 4 good.

The headers from the fox body are the issue your having. They won't work.

My problem now is actually finding a set that will work. Partirot and Hedman headers aren't made for the z-bar.

I read on Cj Pony that those headers aren't made for the z-bar, but I just emailed Patriot to ask.

Let us know what Patriot says, I found their catalog and the mids have the most footnotes I've ever seen? They're supposed to be the easiest type to fit. Pertronix owns a lot of co's now you might check the others for fit/price. Again the LT are nice for top end 5K > but for a street car I think the mids will do better for RPM ranges and less headaches.

P14-15
64-73 260-302W H8433 footnotes:
18-Header installation requires the use of the 1965-66 Non Hi-Po V8 clutch equalizer bar
62- Must use 66 1/2 or later frame brackets (approx. 1” higher than 65 and early 66 style)
64- Fits with manual transmissions using 85-95 bellhousings with cable clutch kits
196- Lakewood bell housings require clearancing for header tubes
197- Use recommended C5ZZ16A052E “export brace” if shock mount center to center dimension is less than 33 3/4”

It looks like my MAC LT's are going to be maybe 1/2" lower than my trans pan at their lowest point so they're pretty tucked compared to others. They would have fit fine with PS and a C4 but since I'm installing an AOD that is my headache, lots of bending and denting.

I'm lowered also, 15" tire treads are 1/2" from fender lips front/rear.
