Torque converter bolt interference

Yes, when pulling the engine, it could have come away from the pump. Just take the converter in a 9 and 3 o'clock position and wiggle it up and down while pushing SLIGHTLY. You'll feel it go back in. If that doesn't work, take the converter off and take a flashlight and look between the seal and stator shaft, (big spline shaft) you'll see the tags that engage the pump which mate up to the converter, that will give you a reference to where the pump is and then the "3" engagements.
