thermostat?

Smile thermostat?

which way does the thermostat go into the housing? does the spring side face the radiator or the manifold?

The side with the temp bulb faces the engine.

Uh, think that's the wrong pic At least, it is now.

Side with the spring is the side with the temp bulb (copper slug)

could have been emberassing. as always great help 2+2. i had one the wrong way around about 20 years ago. a mistake you only do once.
