im thinking of buying a 1986 mustang for parts, its got a 351 in it, nice radiator with electric fans, a/c, nice seats, guages, nice radio and speakers etc...

now my question is, could i swap all the above into my 69? are the engines of 82-94 mustangs the same case size? if I dont end up buying this one maybe ill look for another. could you remove the efi and manifold off a an 82-94 mustang and replace with a carb?

oh yea and an important factor, my tranny runs high rpm on highway and would use the manual tranny from the stang complete with the engine.

If this car has the T5 trans then yes, it's quite easy to put the 351/T5 setup in your car, and yes, you can bolt a carb intake directly on. Changing the distributor may be required.

this swap is very common. I've been thinking of doing a restomod with a 4.6 4v engine. Some scoff at this but they look really cool in an old stang. You have to remove the shock towers to do it though.

The Mustang was available in '69 with a 351W. I'm not sure about the 351C, but I don't think that was available until 1970? Either one will bolt right into your car using off the shelf parts. In '69, everything had a carb (almost), so that's easy, too.

In '86, the Mustang was not available with a 351 of any kind. So then the question is, what year is the 351W in that '86 you're looking at? Some were good, some not so good.

As for the other parts, none of them will bolt right in with factory parts. But, you can make them work if you buy the right aftermarket parts. For example, the T5 is considerably differant than a toploader. But you can buy the right clutch linkage parts and crosss member to make it almost a bolt in. Almost.

yeah, I was talking about the 4.6 4v engine.

the 69 can hold a 428 big block no problem. the newer mod motors are wider. any 302/351 engine will fit no problem.
