I convert original ammeters to volt meters. I can do 67-73 and am working on a 65-66 version.

Here is what I did on my 68..I believe the 67s have the gas gauge in the upper 3 gauges but you could always just swap a stock looking voltmeter into the unused clock position..

If I had a 67-68, I would use the clock provision for that cool tach thats available.

The 66-73 "ammeter" is really an indicator, essentially wired in parallel with the charging system. Since it's not actually part of the charging circuit, all the wiring must be in perfect condition. Disconnect all the plugs between the "AMP" gauge and the alternator, clean them using Brasso, Q-Tips, and an old toothbrush, protect them with silicone grease, and plug them in. I have seen "dead" gauges slam to the "C" line after doing this.
