Default URGENT HELP NEEDED

Today, we were working on our 65 coupe up on the ramps, when all of a sudden it rolled off. Nobody was hurt, but now the engine has a hard time starting and when it starts, there's a terrible noise!

I don't know what to say, but check anything that moves when the car is at idle. Find out where the noise is coming from. Maybe the header connection to the exhaust was hit when it rolled off? I don't know...

Default Possible Starter Trauma

Car went over front of ramps and now has trouble starting? Could this impact have damaged starter ? No visible signs of damage from underneath.

Perhaps the "park" pawl was not fully engaged. Now there are broken or damaged parts inside the trans.

Default Clear up what happened

My son actually drove the car over the end of the ramps. Car was cranking and running quietly before.

I would advise against ever using ramps. They are unsafe in my opinion. Get you some good jack stands and a floor jack. Although I don't think it would have helped you in this situation seeing as your son drove it off the ramps, he would have drove it off the jack stands too. If the car is now making that much noise, I would say there has to be some visible damage. Check to see if the oil pan has been smashed up. Check to see if the block plate between the trans and the engine is bent and touching the fly wheel. If you don't see anything there it might be time to get someone to put it on a rack and give it a really good looking at. Did you suffer any fender damage behind the wheels when the car come off. I'm assuming you had the front of the car on the ramps correct?

Default No visible damage

That is the confusing part. No visible damage. We pulled the ramps out by hand from under the car.
