Default clutch pedal

i still can not figure this out. i have a 67 and just put in a toploader. I can not get the clutch pedal itself installed. I have the correct pedal for my car i am 100% certain of it. The rod on the clutch pedal does not go through the pedal assembly enough to put the retaining clip through that very rod. hope this makes sense its the best i can describe it!

also my lower adjustment rod wont fit because of my tri-y headers. i cant even clip it into the z-bar its soo long and hits the headers. any suggestions besides replace headers?

A photo of your pedal would help. Meanwhile, read this:

Common problem with headers or Tri-Y's. You'll need to alter the shape of the lower arm to clear them. An acetylene torch will do the job.

Didn't 67 have a lot of mid-year changes? They can't all be the right parts or you wouldn't be having problems.

I'm running a z-bar with tri-y's in my '66 and they just barely touch the lower leg, all I need to do is grind the edge just a little to clear. Maybe all tri-y's are not created equal, but mine were $229 shipped for the chrome ones, so they're definitely not special.

I used OEM 67 289 rod for years w/ different headers.

rollerized pedal bushing, heim joints and boot bushing; great upgrades for all but concours restorations.
