1 step forward, 3 steps back
Slowly making progress stripping my coupe, so I can send it to paint. I've only got about 20% of the car left. Sanded down the passenger door today and discovered this rocker panel, which is gonna set me back at least a month or two fixing the problem. You can see the screw holes used to pull the rocker out with a slide hammer. The good news, the rocker is straight, and the damage does not go above the door to the top of the rocker nor the below the rockers underside, and I'm confident I can save the door. I have no problem welding, my question is primarily structural. Can you section a rocker, or do you have to replace the entire rocker panel? The damage is limited to the front half of the rocker.

1st i would plan strategic location for weld seams.
if the rocker is not rusty i would cut out the bendy bits w/n welding strategy.
hard to duplicate OEM spot welds.
step back and evaluate.
can add some reinforcement behind rocker if your concerned about strength.
i would save whole rocker replacement option for last resort.
