very nice :-)

only on that ground:
"470"/.470". Excellent power from idle to low 5000's."
that sounds very reasonable for a stock bottom end and stock heads (valve lift)

anyway I am impressed that you can get that much power out of them with that cam and ported heads.

i checked on the 268H.
if you are talking this one (31-218-2)

you should be ok
the XE268H (the one I have (31-242-3) would be a very bad idea

Custom grind hydraulic roller, and have power from idle-6,500 :P

Definitely wanna upgrade the bottom end on that though.

There's the rub. Horsepower increase does not = $ increase. The first 100 or so is pretty easy, and to get from a stock 200 hp 2V to 325 hp is under $1000. The next 50 hp will cost you another $1000 or more, and so on.

Heh, at least. You know what they say, as power increases linearly, cost increases exponentially. Sad, but true.

My personal opinion, bore it to the 302 lol. The 289 and the 302 as everyone knows is the same block....BOre it to the 302, throw in new pistons and the cam that you mentioned. Thats what I would do...but that can get expensive lol.

Aune - the 289 and the 302 both have 4.000" bores. It's the crankshafts (strokes) that were different to give the 302 its extra 13 cubic inches.

(PS, the cylinder walls of these thinwall block castings don't have enough meat in them to overbore a 289 out to 302 and expect it to live - you'd be going something like 0.090" over when 0.060" over is already risky.)

Exactly. The 302 was a 289 with 1/8" more stroke. The extra 13 cid is not worth the expense.

I'd consider .040 the absolute max bore on a Ford smallblock. Even if you got .060 without punching through the cylinder walls, they'd be so thin it would transfer too much heat to the water jacket, impossible to keep cool.
