I'm installing tb's in our '65 coupe and I'm finding it is easier to install them split apart then install as a whole. And no, they just don't slide right in "that" easy, even on cars that have them originally. You got cutting, trimming, bleeding, cursing, and beating with a hammer to get them in.
From what I have read here on people doing tb's they find it easier to split them in half for a better kind of sort of easier install and is what I choose to do after trying to install them as a whole.

Here is my build thread with me attempting to install my tb's. https://mustangforums.com/forum/clas...of-pics-9.html

That's why Glazier/Nolan uses, and sells, the two-piece box. They find it's much easier to prefit and install them.

Here's an outer shell being fitted:

Thats a good feeling when you get to the top of that hill. Im installing my other side from the top for sure. this one I slid in the back quarter. I would post a picture but my photobucket is still not working. Can we see your Progress. I'm still working on a patch for the outer rail. I also did some painting and took off my Crome holders. Have you got your panels yet?

I'd insert from the front, install, then do the torque box, but that's just me.

I had some rust in my outer rocker too. Thought it was a good time to have it fixed. Anyway. Your inner should slide in. I have a feeling you still have your fenders on. Mine are off. This may be helping me more than I think. Do you have them on? Photobucket stll not working sorry no pictures.

yea my fenders still on, no need for me to take them off im not doing work to my outer rockers and besides, the torque box doesnt go in any easier with them off.

im just about ready to put in the new rocker. i was just cleaning up the inside of the outer rocker, coating it with some nice anti rust paint and just trying to straighten up the top and bottom where i drilled the **** out of it.

my outer rocker wasnt rusted at all, in fact i could see the writing on the metal that it came from the factory. ill try and post a few pics later on tonight after the wife and kids are asleep.....that is if I dont fall asleep before them.

again, after putting the inner rocker in place, i will attempt to install the torque box without splitting it apart. i hope im successful. Lets hope tomorrow i manage to finish up the one side. then next week ill move on to the passenger side.

question....... on my new floor pans. there is a lip that folds half an inch downwards so that you can weld the pans to the same seam where the inner rocker welds to the outer rocker.....im thinking of cutting this off and just welding the pans to the bottom of the rocker instead. what you guys think?
