1967 door spring question
I have a '67 mustang. The doors would stay open but the hinges looked ok. Ordered new springs (which are a tad thicker). I followed the advice I'd read about compressing them and using a zip tie, but still can't just shove them in place. Do I need to remove the entire door just to get the spring in place??
Thanks.
Thanks.
If you try to install the springs with the hinge on the car you'll put your eye out. Support the door with a padded jack, remove the lower hinge only, put it in a bench vise and pivot to the closed position, and install the spring. make sure you install the hinge at the marks, and you'll have little or no adjusting to do. Takes less than an hour, and won't make you a one-eyed jack.
