With 3.80:1 your first gear will be a waste in a T5, I'd suggest the 3.55:1 if a T5 is in the plans.

not with a cobra or z spec ratio....well it works fine for me I have the 2.95 1st gear and I can shift out of 1st at 35mph at 5000 RPM. I dont consider that a waste... and with the .63 od I turn about 2400 RPM at 80 Mph.

I guess you'll have to figure out what it is you are most after. really in 1st gear there is only about 2mph difference between 3.80 and 3.55 so dont over think it

guys, i had a total mental disconnect, i have 3.4 ford traction lock in the 8" rear. The car doesn't really heat up past about 210 (driven for about 45 minutes). I think I definitely am running a bit rich and should check timing.

I am really thinking about going AOD for the gas mileage as well. The traffic in LA sucks so the automatic is nice. There is a shop in LA that will install a rebuilt AOD for $1,750 and I am thinking this may be the way.

This car has also been a 4 year project for me and my son and he is just now getting ready for his drivers permit so I don't want the car too fast, just nice and throaty (we have been driving TAG Tonykarts for years so he is used to the brake and gas piece :-)
