I used a T5 yoke on my AOD as it was supposed to be stronger and I picked it up 2nd hand new for a good price so I can't comment on the C4 reuse but have read of others cutting them and using them. The T5 one had splines the entire length and no cutting, I looked in my C4 one and half the length was smooth, half splined so I wasn't crazy about losing spline contact area. Do a search for C4 yoke AOD and you'll get how much to cut off.

You won't want to cut the driveshaft until you've got the yoke in and the car level with full driving wt. Below are instructions for measuring for driveshaft as you have to pull the yoke out a little to allow for in/out as the suspension travels otherwise it'll bottom into the tail or fall out. Rarely does the stock driveshaft fit without shortening/lengthening and it seems to vary by car from posts I've read. If the driveshaft needs to be cut it will need to be done by a prof. of course and balanced.

Measuring Procedure:

The most important dimension in ordering a drive shaft is the length. This length is expressed as the distance between the centers of the front and rear u-joints.

To arrive at this dimension, first raise the car off the ground, being very careful to insure that the normal vehicle weight is being supported by the rear suspension. (The suspension is not at full droop or unnecessarily compressed.)

Take the slip yoke that the driveshaft will be assembled to and insert it all the way into the tailshaft housing of the transmission. Now pull it out 3/4" to 1". This will be the free play that all driveshafts need when the suspension moves through its full range of travel.

Carefully measure the distance between the centers of the front and rear u-joints. Double check the 3/4" to 1" free play in the slip yoke and measure again. Measure twice, order once!
This is the length for your new aluminum drive shaft.

God I love 69 convertibles and yours looks awesome......... it's next on the list to buy.

As for the yolk, you need movement so you don't want cut too much off. I believe you want an inch of movement coming out and going into the transmission.
