Mechanical fan spacer

Mechanical fan spacer
Hi everyone, I am installing an electric fan setup in my 69. To make room I removed the stock fan spacer as shown below
I thought I should put new shorter bolts in the pulley the spacer was pulled off of, however the bolts were slightly too long and the bolts pushed the pulley off the water pump snout. I used a large socket and a mallet to reset the pulley on the snout.
Now if I pull by hand I can loosen the pulley on the snout again. The belts prevent the pulley from coming all the way out but now I'm worried something may loosen this pulley when I'm finiahed. What am I supposed to do here? Is there a part I need to purchase to prevent the pulley from backing out? The pictured spacer looks like it prevents the pulley from backing off, but there isn't room to keep it installed. Help please.

if the bolts are too long, either find shorter bolts or use a couple of flat washers to take up the extra space/gap that the slightly too long bolts have so that they can snug the pulley down properly.
WP to pulley to washer(s) to bolt.
