fuel gauge question

One more question. Is the hole to feed the wire to the gas take located on the trunk bottom, on the side, near where the gas tank is connected or is it lower near where the lights feed up to the tail light wires?

Its located on the FWD face of the tank.

Yep, it should look like this when it's hooked up. It really won't matter how it is routed just so that the wire is long enough to reach the fuel gauge.

The wire routing is as follows. It comes from under the dash and runs down the drivers side rocker panel under the sill plate. It then goes under the rear quarter window and up over the rear wheel well, all on the drivers side. It then crosses the trunk, inside the trunk, just foward of the gas tank. there is a hole in the trunk on the passengers side foward of the trunk the wire passes through that hole and then is routed back to the center of the tank, under the car to be hooked up to the sending unit. On the wire there should be a grommet that seals the hole that penatrates the trunk floor. Hope this helps.
