Default Top care during winter

So, here I am in western NY waiting for winter. The vert comes off the road for winter. Too much salt and other nastys on the road. I'll be storing it outside. Should I buy some type of cover for the top? I had a cover for another one of my cars, (not A vert) and the thing stuck to the top when I tried to take it off in the spring (it wasn't cheap). So I'm reluctant to put anything on the vert for that reason and the possibility of trapping moisture under it. I figure just snow and cold won't do any harm.

looking for comments. Thanks
