Default Where to put the boot.

Just bought my first Mustang and it's a '97 Cobra convertible. When I picked it up the boot and the floor mats were in the trunk. Now the boot is wrapped in plastic and stored in the house. Does it go behind the back seat or does it just stay home or ride around in the trunk when the top is up?

Please hold the boot in the *** jokes please.

I have kept mine in the house just about since I got it. I guess it depends if you plan on actually using it when you have the top down.

So I am correct in assuming it doesn't fit behind the rear seat somehow?

Not really... maybe in the trunk if you don't really want to keep much else in it. I haven't tried it myself, but maybe it would fit in the top storage area... just be sure to take it out before you lower the top or you may have some real problems then.

I don't yet have a boot cover for my recently acquired Mustang so can't say for sure if this will work with the later models or not, but on my previous convertibles from the 60's I always threw the boot cover into the top storage well behind the rear seat when the top was up. The front edge of the boot remained in the channel on back of the rear seat 99% of the time, all I had to do was remember to flip the boot over the rear seat back before putting the top down.

Being these boots are hard, not soft like years ago, fold it into the trunk or leave it home. I never use them....a pain to remove if you get caught in the rain. I like the convenience of being able to put the top up quick while at a light or something.

Mine sits on a shelf in the garage. I rarely use it, even though I do like how it looks when it's on. It's been on that shelf for 2 years now without suffering any wear or damage. When I do use it, yeah it gets folded up and sits in the trunk. As far as I have ever seen or read, it's meant to be in the trunk...

The boot that came with my car fits pretty well in the attic.

I bought my 2012 convertible new and it came with the boot cover. It was a waste of money, as I have never used it, especially since the top of the 2012 has a hard front, so there's no need for the boot. Mine is sitting in my garage still wrapped in the plastic it came with.
