caliper paint
Are you all spraying or brushing on the paint for your calipers? I'm thinking of doing this and just wondering if I need to pull them off to spray, or if it is feasible to brush it on since the metal is rough texture.
I used hi temp spray on the 95 Impala SS. After a couple of years it is starting to flake off. On the Corvette I went with the DupliColor Caliper Kit (Walmart - $14.00). It is a brush on and is terrific. I have enough left over to redo the Impala and more. Just be sure to A) follow the instructions carefully and B) trash the brushes that come with it and buy some of the cheap artist brushes in Walmart's crafts department. My $0.02.
I think I'll paint my calipers as well. Anyone found a high temp red that matches torch red farily well? BTW, what's the torque number for the tightening the lug nits? Anyone got a hint on how not to scratch 'em? I think I like the brush-on option, but for those using spray paint, did you remove the calipers? I've found that I have to really watch the overspray even with masking.
Thanks
Thanks
Do they have high temp clear? if they do, does it yellow? I don't want to colour my calipers, IMO it looks like crap, I just want to keep them from rusting is all I'm trying to do. Nice clean look > attractive look
Assuming your talking about your wheel lug nuts, torque isn't important, just put them around 85lbs - 100lbs and you can't go wrong. Do you mean so you don't scratch your lug nuts? Just put paper towel in the socket.
