Bassani Headers or long tube?

Bassani Headers or long tube?
I've been looking everywhere for some dynos of a STOCK 03 GT with the Bassani headers, o/r, and X-pipe VS. longtube headers with comprable o/r and x-pipes. Anyone know where I can find this? Or does andone know from experience (not just that you heard from a friend that knew someone that had them) which gives more power? Everyone seams to say that the longer the headers the better...but if thats the case then why not make the headers go even further back (maybe join them together 2 feet from the back of the car). Does anyone KNOW what the ideal length of the headers are? Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Well you have two lenght headers, not just the longer the better. There are long tubes and shorties. The long tubes on a stock car aren't really neccisary and won't be that different then shorties, but they will be a hell of a lot harder to get in. If you're planning on going with a power adder such as a supercharger or turbo then the long tubes will be better for that, if not then the shorties will be fine. As for actual dynos don't think I can help you there, sorry.

headers aren't a simple science either. most important thing is to get equal length headers whether they are short or long and don't get them too big in diameter either or you'll kill the low end power. most street cars need only 1-5/8" headers even with some mods and no bigger than 1-3/4' after that unless you have a full blown race motor making over 500 HP. long tube are a pain to install, but can be better in the long run than shorties, but for normal street crusing, I would recommend the equal length shorties as they are the easiest to install and cheaper than long tubes. I'm running mid 13's with the 1-5/8" MAC equal length shorties and an OR H-pipe on mine right now.

Performance wise, Long tubes and UNequal length shorties measure the same increase basically on the dyno. Think it was MM&FF that did the test a few issues back. I agree that long tubes are the thing to go with if you plan on S/C'ing or Turbo down the line. Do it once, you won't want to do it again!
