my uncle had it sitting out in the weeds and he only drove it home and did nothing with it, like most of his stuff. he paid $50 for it in about 1970.
my uncle gave it to me for free when he asked what car i wanted he had.
wimbeldon white w/ red interior
i got it when i was 6 (not a typo)
i have pics and still have the car, and hopefully will some day figure out body work so i can licences it up and drive it.
my 1st vehicle i actuallly drove on the road
1983 ranger short bed 2.8 C5 4x4 (orginally at least)
same uncle bought it in 1990 and drove it a few years and it burnt a valve so he parked it, and i helped him farm and out of his stuff he didn't use i picked it. and it's my daily driver again.

What was it?
How did you get it?( you pay for it or someone else)
Cost?
Color?
How old were you?
Have pics?
1973 Mustang Grande
Parents paid $50 at the junk yard, and $75 to have it towed to the house. I spent a year rebuilding the suspension and drivetrain.
Dark Brown

Wish I had pics.
It started with a 351 Cleveland and a FMX trans with factory 9", I turned it into a 10sec street car with 514cu.in. motor I got from PAW with SCJ heads, a 3500rpm custom built torque converter, C6 trans with manual valve body, and a 31 spline 9" with 3.73 gears.
Never was good with interior or body work though, so it was pretty ugly, which wasn't bad cause it made it a sleeper.
BTW, a 429 was an option in 73, and I used "Powered By Ford" valve covers and air cleaner that were from a swap meet (kindy dirty looking and used). I painted the block Ford Blue and when I popped my hood, the car looked like it could almost be a stock to mild rebuild.
I miss that car - drove it everyday to senior year of high school. Sold it about 5 years ago.

Man, to hear the different ranges and ages of cars along with the short stories that go with them is awesom! As I read some of the stories I can imagine the excitemnet that went alone with them as I do mine. The fact that so many of you can remember detail like engine specs and everything is incredible. Can you imagine if we all had those cars today and all in mint condition after all these years of restoration. Woudnt that be great! Man I wish we all had pics to go with these stories.
